The Clean Sky Joint Undertaking (CSJU) is a public-private partnership between the European Commission and the European aeronautics industry that coordinates and funds research activities to deliver significantly quieter and more environmentally friendly aircraft.

In 2015, Clean Sky 2 launched an action plan on synergies for Member States and Regions which are interested in investing ESIF(European Structural and Investment Funds) within the aeronautics research and innovation.

The plans aims at:

  • strengthening R&I investments and innovation capacity;
  • enhancing the European dimension of the Regions in aeronautics;
  • identifying areas of technical cooperation;
  • achieving a global leverage effect between ESIF, Clean Sky funding, and other national/regional funding.

The brochure explains the mechanisms of the plan, reviews the various MoU’s signed by the Cleansky JU and each region, describes the synergies scenarios, and surveys various pilot projects with countries such as the Czech Republic, the regions of Vastra Götaland and Ostergötland (Sweden), Castilla-La Mancha (Spain), Occitany (France), Portugal, Zuid Holland and Romania.
