Clément Ader tells the story of the construction of the Eole. This device was considered by specialists and the scientific press as the first aerial device flown by a man at a low height and on a small distance.
He perfected his steam engine and built the first aircraft - named "L' avion" - in great secrecy, under contract with the Ministry of Defence. After a campaign of tests in 1891, he tried to continue his work. The Minister's lack of interest and the army's administrative burden forced him to stop his work.
