Sukhoi – Сухой

Sukhoi (Russian: Cухой) is one of the leading manufacturers of Soviet and later Russian military aircraft. The company was founded by Pavel Sukhoi in 1939 under the name of ‘Sukhoi Design Bureau’ (the prefix is ‘Su’) or OKB-51, and in 2009 is known as Sukhoi Corporation, a company that belongs to the Irkout aeronautics group, a member of the OAK consortium, then merges with OAK in 2022.
The company has a design office in Moscow and manufacturing facilities in Novosibirsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Voronezh and Irkutsk.
The product range extends from aerobatic aircraft to combat aircraft.
Most of the aircraft produced by Sukhoi are or have been used by the Russian Air Force, but models for export are present in a large number of countries. These include Armenia, Algeria, India, China, Iraq, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, the German Democratic Republic, Syria, North Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Yemen, Egypt, Libya, Iran, Angola, Ethiopia, Venezuela, Malaysia and Peru.
In total, more than 2,000 Sukhoi aircraft have been exported.
